WORD TO MY MOTHER, no. 8

My mother told me once that she always dreamed of raising children. And I guess I always pictured myself having children too -- but I don't really think ahead. So it wasn't something I day dreamed about until it was really happening. I am grateful everyday that my daughter turned me into a mother. It has helped me understand my own in so many ways.

My mother had us young and gave everything she had to us. She put her dreams of being a midwife on hold so that she could be there for us. And now, in her 50s she has finally become a midwife. She never gave up. She might have pushed all of her personal aspirations to the side in order to be there for us, but she never actually forgot them. And to me? That is amazing. That is strength. Nothing can touch a mothers love. Nothing at all.
