4 Tips For Your January Digital Detox

4 Tips For Your January Digital Detox

Posted by BOXFOX TEAM on

In a digitally-driven world, it’s easy to feel consumed by both the media and our devices, whether it’s constantly checking your text message notifications at work, getting lost down a TMZ rabbit hole, or better yet, wondering why they (you know who we’re talking about) has yet to watch your instagram story.

This week, we’re serving up 5 tips on how to commit to a January digital detox, inspired by our brand-new PAUSE BOXFOX. Because there’s no better way to kick-off your 2019 than with a clean slate (tabula rasa, am I right?)!

STEP 1 // Disable Notifications

Disabling the notifications off your phone from your social media apps (especially instagram) by default, will allow you to refocus your energy on more important activities. Because you’ll no longer distracted by a simple notification popping up on your phone, you might find yourself spending less time actually using the applications all together.

STEP 2 // Give yourself an alternate Hobby

Instead of checking your instagram every hour at the office, or while you’re sitting at home bored and in need of something to do, find an alternate hobby. At work, take the time to talk to that one coworker you’ve been wanting to get to know, invest your time in a good book, or maybe, surprise yourself and pick up a new cookbook or workout routine--your new hobbies might end up paying off in more ways than one!

STEP 3 // Airplane mode, baby!

Protip: While you’re asleep, working on projects, in a big meeting, or just spending some quality time with friends, keep your phone on airplane mode. Keeping your phone on airplane mode will make it easy to resist the urge to check your phone constantly, especially if it’s before bed. Goodbye waking up in the middle of the night to check text message, hello a well-rested night!

STEP 4 // Make Some Plans

When in doubt, map it out! If you find yourself spending more time on your phone with people, try putting together a schedule for the week and reaching out to make plans for a girl’s night, movie night, or anything in between. It’s more impactful to keep up your connections in person than over a simple text message!

The best gift money can buy is time, which is exactly why we’re inviting you to take these 4 tips for a January digital detox to heart and shop our PAUSE curation. Inspired by everything you’ll need to relax, recharge, and refuel this year.
