BOXFOX TURNS 10

Hello fellow foxes,

 

Today, BOXFOX turns 10 years old. Our 10th Birthday Sale is alive and well on the site too (BOXFOXISTEN at checkout!)🎈🎂🍾

 

Every year this day comes and every year, Jenni and I, already pretty wrapped up in the demands of Q4, spend a brief moment in time commemorating the anniversary and thanking our customers. And trust us, we are so grateful for you. Y'all are the most human, generous, kind group of customers and clients, it actually blows us away. We constantly geek out on the curations you put together, the thoughtful notes you send, and the fact that you've trusted us with your most important personal and professional relationships since 2014. I have to be physically pulled away from helping you in the chat bot. We hope you feel that gratitude every time you hear from us!

 

This year though, we want to overindulge this moment by thanking all the people behind the scenes that helped us get here. People talk about their "tech stack" but we wanted to take a moment to chat about our "people stack". I think it's fair to say we firmly believe relationships make the world go round, and in our case, they've enabled us to thrive and survive 10 years in business!

 

We have been the recipients of so much aid, advice, encouragement and good will. I get emotional thinking of all the good will we've been afforded! And yes, there have been hard times too, but we have unending gratitude for the lessons we've come by because of it. 

 

To the third of our original trio, Sabena. She taught us to celebrate these moments harder! Her beautifully written marketing copy is at the core of who BOXFOX is and her signature is still all over what we do!

 

To our families (The Oliveros, The Suris, The Moores) and husbands (Todd, Chiraag, Milby), especially my parents. I will never be able to repay them for the unconditional optimism they've had in us the last ten years and I hope every child gets to experience that level of support and love.

 

To our friends. Kelsey Mandelbaum, Gina Tomasino, Erica Keller and Michael Palumbo, who quite literally lived in our home "warehouse" and a few great others (you know who you are). Their unwavering enthusiasm and free therapy have kept us going. 

 

To our employees, past and present. They've helped us build, grow, and create and we're forever grateful for everything they've contributed. 

 

To some of the most meaningful partners and vendors who've become friends. Our longtime printer, Ed Su at Studio Printing, the kind of guy you want on your team. John Lane and Richard Melbye at CBRE, Lexi Hatch, our longtime photographer who helps us bring our specific creative tone to life, Vic Ricci and Doris Neufeld at Mattered for their encouragement and support, James Erck, who built Build a BOXFOX, Hilary Laffer at Part & Parcel for the most gorgeous rebrand just when we needed it, and Herbivore Botanicals for being the first brand to say yes. And to Voluspa, Sugarfina, Rifle Paper Co for being very close behind.

 

To our old bosses, like Joe Cannon and Jessy Longo who employed us before we could afford to employ ourselves.

 

To every USC, UCLA, and LMU student who let us spray tan them to pay the rent back in 2014/2015.

 

There's so many more people to thank. There have been so many lucky breaks with real estate and corporate sales and PR opportunities (though Oprah, we're still waiting on your call for us to be on Favorite Things)! Did you know we were the first pop up at the Grove (for free) because they needed someone to market? Or that we won our domain BOXFOX.com for free from a domain squatter? We got Forbes 30 Under 30 on our second try. One time, a friend overheard two women raving about BOXFOX on a random flight. This ride is wild. You don't survive (and I say "survive" very much on purpose) without a lot of opportunity, preparation, luck, and people rooting you on.
