Mom, You Were Right.

Mom, You Were Right.

Posted by BOXFOX TEAM on

We all know the expression “mother knows best,” but how often do we really take it to heart? We tend to forget that moms have more valuable knowledge and instincts than we can imagine. They lived a whole life before us and have likely already been through every struggle we face. This woman knows you better than you know yourself, so listen up!

We asked our founders to tell us about a time mom really was right; here’s what they had to say //

My mother's intuition is unparalleled. I remember being so frustrated when she wouldn't like someone I was hanging out with, or when she forced me to get involved in extracurriculars, but she was right about everyone and everything

Jenni // Co-Founder + COO

Growing up, whenever our fruit bowl was overflowing or apples were about to turn, my mom would always slice up some fruit and set it out for us to snack on. She always said, if you cut up fruit people will eat it. She was right then and she’s right now. We recently bolstered up the BOXFOX break room, filled with a combo of fan favorites, guilty pleasures, and healthy options - including apples and cuties. Just yesterday I found myself cutting up the last three apples and set them out for the team as a afternoon snack. Low and behold - they were all enjoyed! A healthy option for our busy bees as we’re working like crazy on Mother’s Day orders, while also reducing food waste. Win - win!

Sabena // Co-Founder + CSO

My mom has been right about a lot of things, but I would say specifically, she was right about me going to college at USC. Not a lot of people know this, but I actually appealed my decision after I was not initially accepted. For context, less than 1% of appeals go through. But I had always said that USC was my dream school, and my mom wouldn’t let me consider that my fate was sealed. She knew better. She pushed me to put together a comprehensive appeal, including articles I had written, a super heartfelt letter, and a recommendation from a mentor. It worked, because I was accepted shortly thereafter—which ultimately had a huge impact on the rest f my life. So she was right about where I really was supposed to go to school, but more than that, she was right about never taking no for an answer. I never take that lesson for granted.
