Rosie O'Neill is the sweetest. Yes, the sweetest because she is the founder of our favorite candy brand, Sugarfina (we may have just consumed an entire box of But First, Rosé Roses), but after reading her #wordtoyourmother, we now know that she truly is the sweetest. Keep reading for Rosie's beautiful letter to her mother.
"Every year on my birthday, my Mom emails me a sweet note about the night she went to the hospital for my birth. She remembers so many tender little details. And although I don’t remember anything about that night, I do know that being born into the arms of my amazing Mother was the luckiest thing that could have ever happened to me.
From years 0-3, it was just us, and I was in heaven. We took daily walks to the park, fed the ducks, and read Madeline on repeat hundreds of times (she never complained!). I wasn’t too happy when competition arrived with my brother Patrick, but we all managed to get along just fine. A few years later came Jeff, then Catherine. During my senior year of high school, Kieran was born, and during my last year of college, we welcomed Rachel.
At each stage and with each new sibling, my Mom made me feel like I was still her only child. Her ability to love and create special moments for each of us made us all feel like that, even though she was pulled in a million different directions every day. I’m still amazed at how much energy it must have taken to love and care for 6 kids... she’s my personal hero.
Last year, at age 60, my mom completed college with a degree in occupational therapy. She worked incredibly hard to finish school while also being a full-time caretaker to my youngest sister Rachel who has both Down’s Syndrome and autism. To say my mom is my role model is an understatement, she’s the most strong, caring, hard-working person I’ve ever known.
Happy Mother’s Day Mom, I love you and feel so lucky to be your daughter."
