BEHIND THE SCENES // Meet the Interns

Posted by Molly Sanders on

We just hired the most amazing women as our 2017 interns. If you have been reading our blog or subscribe to the FOX TALE (psst subscribe at the bottom of the page here), then you know we have recently stepped up our game and we have these girls to thank. We have had the pleasure of getting to know them these past couple of months, so we thought it was about time you got to know them a little too.

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I’m a Northern California girl from a suburb in the Bay Area called Orinda. I currently study communications at Loyola Marymount University, but will be heading back up north this summer to intern at Salesforce.

Q: What is your typical office lunch?

Fortunately, I live pretty close by so I eat a big breakfast before heading over to the office! I typically pack a plethora of snacks ranging from assorted vegetables to my favorite candy..try a Hershey's cookie crunch bar and your life will be forever changed. Like any other girl, I’m obsessed with Kombucha, so I make sure to always bring a Gingerade ~health~

Q: What was the best gift you have ever been given?

This past summer, a friend of mine gave me Outside Lands tickets to go with him & a group of our rowdy friends. I loved that it was much more than a typical gift, it was meaningful and we were able to share the experience over the course of 3 chilly days in Golden Gate Park.

Q: Guilty Pleasure?

If you know me.. You are well aware of my obsession with Peanut Butter. I am notoriously known for walking around with a massive spoonful or spreading it on random food items like Oreos, candy, and well...just about anything else. If you’re looking for the good stuff, Whole Foods hooks it up with a wide variety of this creamy crack. I advise all you peanut butter lovers to try their freshly ground honey roasted peanut butter...I do consider myself a PB connoisseur so I wouldn’t steer you in the wrong direction.

Q: Favorite spot in LA?

Los Angeles is full of amazing brunch spots, rooftop bars and touristy destinations. Although you can certainly catch me Sunday brunching, I consider myself to be more of an outdoors & adventurous girl! Venice Beach is the perfect place to roam around, people watch & let your inner blades of glory skills out! For $6 an hour, I consider skating around the strand to be a major score. I typically find myself strolling by Muscle Beach and when I’m feeling confident I pass by the dancing skaters.. One day I’ll join their squad!

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I am originally from Palos Verdes (ayy South Bay) and currently go to school at UCLA. I am majoring in psychology, and am minoring in Spanish (¡Español!) and environmental studies.

Q: What is your typical office lunch?

Usually leftovers from the night before or a pre-made salad I picked up on my way to work… boring I know. If I’m feeling ~crazy~ though, I’ll order in a cheeseburger and fries or a Chipotle burrito bowl!

Q: What was the best gift you have ever been given?

Other than the gift of life (thanks mom and dad!), probably the Christmas gift I got from my boyfriend this year. He surprised me with tickets to see my favorite band, the Lumineers, at the Fonda. It was such a small intimate venue and they sounded even better live than they do on their album.

Q: Guilty Pleasure?

Definitely crime TV. Literally, name any show in that category and I guarantee I’ve seen almost every episode. My all-time favorite is definitely Criminal Minds, which I will still binge-watch with my family every time I go home to PV (my sister and I have huuuuge crushes on Dr. Spencer Reid). My obsession with Criminal Minds is actually why I wanted to study psychology in the first place, I thought I was going to be a criminologist (clearly though, that is no longer the plan).

Q: Favorite spot in Los Angeles?

LA is so gigantic, so that really depends on my mood. Right now it’s the morning and I’m tired so I’m going to go with Alfred Coffee (either the one on San Vicente or the one on Melrose Place). I really love their lattes and could definitely go for one right about now! I also love love love downtown Manhattan Beach. It’s a great place to grab an acaí bowl or to go for a bike ride, especially during the winter when it’s not so full of tourists.

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. Whenever I tell people I’m from Las Vegas they either ask about growing up in Sin City or get this goofy, almost guilty, smile on their face and tell me that “they LOVE vegas!” I do live close to the strip, but I actually live in the suburbs, where I grew up riding my bike around my neighborhood and playing with my friends at the park. There are definitely some weird aspects of growing up in Vegas, but mostly, it was pretty normal. Now I live in Los Angeles and study communications at UCLA.

Q: What is your typical office lunch?

I like to stick to the tried and true: PB&J. It is super quick to make in the morning and easy to pack up and stick in my bag. If I am feeling fancy I will toast the bread or switch it up with almond butter.

Q: What was the best gift you have ever been given?

My boyfriend and I had been talking about planning a trip to Europe this summer, but the plans weren’t really going anywhere. For Hanukkah, he got me a Fodor’s Travel Guide to Greece and some travel essentials so we could start researching and planning. Now we are officially going to Greece to celebrate both of us graduating from college this summer!

Q: Guilty Pleasure?

Popcorn. I get this from my mom. Growing up, there was never a trip to the movie theaters that didn’t involve a giant bucket of popcorn with unlimited refills. The trick to refillable popcorn is that you immediately pour out the bucket into sharing trays so you can refill the bucket before you even leave the concession stand. Sometimes (all the time) my mom and I would stop to pick up movie theater popcorn on my way home from school. I try not to do this too often anymore and save the good stuff for when I go to the movies.

Q: Favorite spot in Los Angeles?

The Bigg Chill Frozen Yogurt. Order a small with half banana cream pie yogurt and half peanut butter yogurt, and a side of vegan cookie dough and rainbow sprinkles. It sounds complicated, but Eric knows my order.
