In a world where absolutely anything you put your mind to is possible, why not aspire to be a sassy, classy, and totally kick-assy Girlboss? Whether it’s medical, retail, tech, or anything in between, there’s no excuse not to manifest your own destiny.
Our Co-Founders, Chelsea, Jenni, and Sabena are giving their 5 tips (from experience) for all the aspiring Girlbosses out there. Here’s what they had to say on becoming the BOSS Foxes that they are today. //
Research //
This is the most important tip that defines a successful company. If you’re not well-versed on your industry, your brand, your product, and ultimately, your goal, you have nothing. In doing research, you’re able to determine if there’s a market for your product or brand, how you can contribute to the market through a thorough understanding of your product or brand, and what you’re hoping to achieve at the end of it all. For us, the vision was clear and we had a real purpose behind starting our company which for us, has helped propel us forward every time.
Resilience //
We can’t stress how much resilience you need to have when starting a business. The odds will, majority of the time not be in your favor. People will tell you “no,” this happened to us on more than a few occasions. But it’s the drive that you have within you, and the confidence in your brand or service that will keep you motivated. If you don’t have this, then you will never be able to get anywhere.
Network //
The more people you keep in touch with, the more it’ll only benefit you. That one kid you didn’t like very much in high school who you didn’t like very much might suddenly be on the cover of FastCo. We’re not saying you have to be everyone’s best friend, but we are saying that it’s never a good idea to burn any bridges, and in fact you should constantly be trying to forge new relationships. The more people you know in your network, the easier it is to meet your goals.
Education //
It’s as simple as this: Education=Evolution. The more you know, the more you’re able to evolve. As a person, as a team, and as a brand. There’s always going to be things you don’t know, so make sure you never stop reading, listening, and seeking opportunities to grow in every way possible. Whether it’s listening to podcasts or reading books, there will always be ways to expand your education.
Know Your Roots //
Remember why you started---define your purpose for this idea and create a vision board or a clear reminder of it that you look to every day. Even when the going gets tough, you can remember why you’re on this path, and why your mission/dream/goal is so important to you.
