BOSS FOX // Lexi Hatch

This week's BOSS FOX is one that comes near and dear to our hearts. You've seen her photography more than you'd think; every time you log on to our website, shop our products, like our instagrams, the list goes on. Yes, you guessed it, this week, we sat down with Alexis "Lexi" Hatch of Lexi Hatch Photography, also the face behind all of our stunning photography. A dear friend of our Co-founders, Lexi has been shooting our BOXFOX curations for years and this week, we're all about her story to becoming the talented photographer that she is.

How did you get started with photography? Was there a particular moment?

My grandpa always had a camera or a video recorder when we were growing up, and I remember always wanting to hold them to take photos or record my sisters. My love of photos has always been there, but I was always dabbling with design and creative things, even from an early age. I originally went to study graphic design thinking I wanted to do more with my drawings - but after I took a photography course, that’s when I knew I wanted to be a photographer. Then I just started a natural course of pursuing it and I’ve never looked back.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

My inspiration comes from everyday life, honestly. Growing up in California has almost everything to do with my inspiration, I love my home and everything that surrounds it. I always am finding inspiration from the people I photograph, especially my friends and family (family being the operative word). I want to capture every real-life moment, almost like a documentary that depicts it all, the good and the bad. Capturing moments in time is what makes photography so special. I’m always trying to aim for photos that embody a ton of emotion, and quite honestly, I find myself crying a lot when I edit my photos, happy tears for the most part.

Are there any particular color palettes that you like to work with?

My color palette really varies! I love deep contrast and warm tones but I also love light and bright. It really just depends on whatever I may be photographing, then lighting, the season, or even the kind of mood I am in. It’s always changing which is what makes it so fun.

What’s been your favorite photoshoot to date?

That’s a tough one for me! I’ve had so many amazing shoots, that at times I can’t believe all of the work I’ve gotten to experience in just the last two years of my career. A recent event I shot with Zillow and more to come was an incredible experience for me. I can’t tell you how over the moon I was to shoot for then, it’s definitely been one of the most exciting experiences I’ve had in my career thus far and has served as a huge stepping stone for me. Aside from that, I’ve loved shooting weddings and anything that involves people, love, and candid shots.

What would be your dream photoshoot if you had to choose? Or dream client?

I have so many dream clients! National Geographic was always a dream when I was younger, the idea of traveling the world and documenting along the way sounds like pure magic to me. But I really do feel lucky to have had the experiences I’ve had thus far. I feel really blessed.

What do you like to do when you’re not shooting?

When I don’t have my camera in hand, you can find me hanging out with my family and friends, my niece Dusty, my adorable dog, brunching and lunching, and trying to fit in a mini vacation whenever I can get one. Definitely love me some R&R!

What are your favorite Instagrams to follow?

I have a ton that I love: The Jungalow, Solid and Striped, theloversanddriftersclub, Into The Gloss, French By Design, Chrissy Teigen, to name a few.

Morning or night person?

Definitely a night person. But oh, do I love my late mornings and cup of coffee

What’s your favorite drink this summer?

 The Paloma, no question.
