FOX TROTTER // The Only Maui Guide You'll Ever Need

Posted by Hayley Murach on

Aloha! Our CEO, Chelsea, currently has her toes in the sand and is wearing her favorite floppy sun hat on the beach in Maui. While we're here at the BOXFOX headquarters drinking our usual cup of joe and praying for June Gloom to pass through, Chelsea has created the only Maui guide you'll ever need to get us excited to plan the next adventure.

Maui is a destination filled with a beautiful heritage, spectacular landscapes, and delicious Mai Tais. A getaway to this tropical paradise is both adventurous and rejuvenating, leaving you with memories (and Instagram photos) to last you until your next escape.

FOOD / /

LONGHI'S // Lahaina // Brunch, lunch, or dinner, you name it. Longhi’s is a staple visit for every trip to Maui with its delicious seafood and not to mention its beautiful ocean view. When you sit down for a sunset dinner at Longhi’s, get a table facing the water, there’s a very good chance you’ll spot a turtle.

MAMA'S FISH HOUSE // North Shore // Amazing food with even better views. This world renowned restaurant has the freshest fish around, caught every day by the fisherman and brought directly to the fish house. The $$$ may hurt your wallet but the food and the ambiance creates a bliss and tropical experience you’ll never forget.

COFFEE / /

PAIA BAY COFFEE CO. // Paia // If you are looking for a trendy place to sip on your coffee, this is definitely your spot. Set in a lush tropical garden, this hidden gem invites local writers, surfers, and visitors to enjoy their hipster vibes and their yummy breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. 100% Instagram worthy.

KOMODO BAKERY // Makawao // Stop into this inexpensive little bakery for the best pastries and donuts around. I hear they even have donuts on a stick. This bakery has been open for over 100 years, so no wonder they have the best selection of baked goods on Maui, they’ve had all that time to perfect the art of baking. This place is a real treat for your taste buds!

SHOPPING / /

NUAGE BLEU // Paia // This trendy and upscale boutique is by far the best retail therapy on the island. Don’t miss out.

TO DO / /

CLIFF HOUSE // Namalu Bay // Shh… it’s a local charm. There is great snorkeling here, but you can also go cliff jumping!

BIG BEACH // Makena Beach and Oneloa Beach // If you’re the type of person to avoid tourists at all costs, this is the beach for you! With its wide sandy white beach with plenty of room to spread out, it is almost never crowded. The highlight? Access to Little Beach, the most famous nude beach on Maui, is from the North-end of Big Beach.

MAUI SNORKEL TOURS WITH GEMINI SAILING CHARTERS // The Gemini set sails off of the coast of Kaanapali, offering snorkeling in the clear waters, a sunset champagne sail, and whale watching during the season. A definite must if you’re down to get a little tipsy in the sun -- which why wouldn’t you? You’re on vacay!

THOUSAND PEAKS BEACHES // Lahaina //  Hop on a stand-up paddleboard and let the small waves carry you out. Be prepared to see WHALES, yes I said it, WHALES.

BLUE HAWAIIAN HELICOPTERS // The best way to see all of Maui’s waterfalls, mountains, beaches, and towns is from thousands of feet up in the air.

HONOLUA BAY // Unreal snorkeling. Arrive at the bay right when you wake up in the AM, the earlier the better, as the bay gets crowded as the day goes on. There is a short rocky hike down from where you park your car to the shady and sheltered bay. On your hike down, don’t be alarmed when you see exotic chickens and roosters walking around. FYI: there is no sandy beach for you to lay out on, only rock, so if you’re not wanting to snorkel or swim, this bay is not for you.

HO’OKIPA // Road to Hana // A local beach with amazing food trucks, vendors, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing and turtle spotting. This beach isn't a great swimming beach, so don't plan on taking a soak here.

TWIN FALLS // Road to Hana // Because Twin Falls is the first stop on the Road to Hana with refreshing pools and waterfalls, it is by far one of the most visited stops along the path. If you’re wanting to get off the beaten path, continue on Road to Hana and find yourself a privately secluded waterfall to float in.

Sleep / /

GRAND WAILEA // Paradise is calling your name at this gorgeous, beachfront luxury resort and spa.

MONTAGE // Equipped with full kitchens, living rooms, and private lanais, each one of these condominiums overlook the ocean or gardens.

AIRBNB // A house, apartment, or condominium on AirBNB is a more private option that allows you to take vacationing on a budget to a whole new level.

Compartes // Californina Avocado Chocolate Bar

AEnon's // Shea + Mint Foot Scrub and Soak

Le Pens // Green
