Gifting The Grieving

What do I get a grieving friend?

This is something we're asked often and have felt awkward talking about - until now. One of the questions we get asked most often is, "what's the appropriate way to gift a grieving friend?" Sometimes you can't physically be there for them, but it's human nature to feel their pain and want to help alleviate even one minute of overwhelming sadness.

We're the biggest advocates of creating a well curated care package with the best of intentions and filling it with useful product that will bring real relief; no wasteful product! Sometimes, even just the thought and gesture can comfort those in need.

Our top 3 tips and ideas //

Elevated Care Package

Because we all need a little pick-me up when we’re down. We started this company rooted in the message of being present for someone for any reason, any season. Our founders sent a care package to a friend going through a tough time when they couldn’t physically be there for them. Customize an elevated care package for them through our build a BOXFOX platform with exactly what they’ll need to get through this tough time. Our top suggestions? Essential Oils, Bath Salts, Candles, Turmeric Capsules, Sleep Masks, and Cozy Socks.

Meals, Meals, Meals

Food is comfort, especially when it comes to feelings of grief. There’s no better way to relive precious memories and console their sadness than with the taste of a delicious meal. The last thing they’ll probably want to do is cook an elaborate meal for themselves, look into a meal delivery service such as freshly. Williams Sonoma also offers one off prepared meals, or consider sending them a Postmates or Uber eats gift card so they can order food from where they like as often as they’d like.

Plan Activities

Even if you can’t physically be there for them, you can still plan activities for them that might be a helpful way to alleviate their sadness, even if it’s just for a moment. Booking them a massage or reaching out to close friends to plan a hike, beach day, or a meditation class can go a long way.
