Meet Maddy: The South Bay beachy-blonde Bruin who (when she’s not busy being our office food Encyclopedia) manages our Customer Service. Since joining our team here at BOXFOX HQ, Maddy has not only been an integral part of our fulfillment, but has taken our Customer Service to the next level, working endlessly to search for solutions to keep our Customers happy.

How would you describe yourself, who is Maddy?
I was born and raised in Manhattan Beach, CA, where I grew up on the beach and then went to UCLA to play D1 Volleyball. I’ve since retired, but I still love to be active and I’m definitely one of the health freaks at the warehouse. Now I live in Venice Beach and spend a lot of my time bouncing between the Westside and the South Bay.
What brought you to BOXFOX?
One of my best friends was BOXFOX’s first employee. She hooked us up when I was figuring out my next move and luckily it was a perfect fit.
Tell us about your role and what a typical work day looks like for you.
I manage the customer service and spend the first half of the day answering inquiries and trying to keep all of our lovely customers happy. After that, I’m handwriting cards, dealing with all of the shipping nuances & all other e-commerce related situations that arise, and lending a hand to the fulfillment team when they need it.
What has been the most rewarding part of working for BOXFOX?
It’s been very rewarding to do customer service in an industry like BOXFOX, where we're the middleman for every occasion, big or small, happy or sad. Making a customer’s gifting experience seamless, from the curation to the exact timing, brings them and their recipient so much joy. On the flip side, turning an unhappy customer into a customer for life is equally as satisfying.
Besides that, getting to work so many interesting, smart, and motivated girls has been a surprising perk to the job and something that has made me excited to come in to work each day.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at the warehouse?
I love to cook, try new workouts, drink wine with my friends, and find any excuse to get outside, whether it’s the beach, hiking, shopping, or going to the farmer’s market.
Any favorite podcasts, books, or TV shows right now?
I’m currently mourning the loss of Handmaid’s Tale, but I fill the void with podcasts like Bon Appetit Foodcast, Lady Lovin, Almost 30, and the goop podcast, while pretending that there aren’t 20 half-finished books next to my bed.
