In honor of the upcoming Earth Day (Earth month, even Earth Year!*clap clap clap clap*) we wanted to share the 2019 BOXFOX recycle & reusability guide to our entire packaging suite. We're not perfect, and we're constantly working on ways to improve, but as a self-funded, growing business, we're constantly thinking about the intersection of perfectly transported purchased goods and minimizing our impact on our Earth's resources. We think it's just as important to be as thoughtful about our supply chain as we are about the gifts we put together for our customers and clients.
Our biggest goal for 2019? Using recyclable stickers, shipping labels, and tape. Adhesives can ruin the best intentions for recycling and we're excited to roll out this initiative by the end of Q2.
the SHIPPER: Our shippers are made from 100% recycled materials, are recyclable, and reusable! Just make sure to break down your boxes! Here's a quick video on the fastest way to make them flat! Most often, tape, labels and anything with adhesive would need to be peeled off in order to ensure the cardboard can be broken down in the recycling process. However, our big move for 2019 is investing in recyclable stickers, labels, and tape!
the BROWN FILLER PAPER: We use brown kraft paper inside of our shippers to wrap and protect our beautiful nude and black keepsake boxes. We order shipping paper made from recycled materials, that is both recyclable and reusable. This component is crucial to ensure your beautiful gifts and products are transported in perfect shape, without using packing peanuts (styrofoam!) or bubble wrap (plastic!).
the BOXFOX: Our BOXFOXes are almost 100% recyclable. In order to properly discard, you must remove the outer layer of nude or black paper and flatten the cardboard. We designed these to be reusable, neutral keepsakes in your home though, and you can read about ALL the different ways we use our boxes here!
the CRINKLE SHRED + TISSUE: Crinkle shred is a hot button issue, and we stand by our use of it to ensure perfectly presented gifts that protect each and every hand-selected product inside. That being said, we definitely did our research into what crinkle would be best. We choose a neutral ivory that can either be reused in projects at home (hello, Easter baskets!) or can be added to compost. Crinkle makes the perfect browns (that's compost language). Our tissue is made from recycled material and is also perfect for your at-home composting.
the RIBBON: Ribbons can be a nightmare for recycling facilities, but can be reused time and time again for your own gift wrapping and crafts. Our favorite way to reuse ribbon? Bows in our hair!
