Every so often we have those hectic days, months, or even weeks that never seem to end. Have no fear, we’ve all been there and we've compiled 5 simple tips to take care of yourself when you’re feeling overwhelmed //
MEDITATE //
Meditation doesn’t have to be scary! It’s actually a super easy and an effective way to clear your head and calm your mind. Apps like calm and headspace are great to get you started. They offer step-by-step meditation guides as short as 5 minutes, so no excuses. Light a candle, like our Voluspa French Cade Lavender Scalloped candle and dab some Vitruvi Lavender or Eucalyptus Essential Oils on your temples to really relax.
MAKE LISTS //
Writing your tasks down helps to get them out of your head and onto paper. Having a visual representation allows you to manage your stress (it’s also super uplifting to check off completed tasks). Another helpful tip is to make a list of what you’re grateful for. Giving thanks keeps you positive and shifts your mindset. You can keep your lists in our Rifle Paper Co. Terracotta Memoir Notebook and use our Le Pens in a calming light blue shade.
LIMIT DISTRACTIONS //
One of the most effective ways to avoid getting overwhelmed is to limit distractions. Silence your phone, turn off notifications, or even delete social media apps for the day.
TAKE BREAKS //
Even when you’re so busy you barely have time to breathe, TAKE A BREAK! Setting breaks, even for 1 minute every hour, can do wonders for your mind and productivity. Taking breaks to breathe deeply and stretch keep you motivated and energized.
GET SOME SLEEP //
Most of the time when we’re busy we’re not getting enough sleep or nutrition. Although getting enough sleep can be a little tricky, try your best to get as much as you can. Turning off electronics and reading a book, like Rupi Kaur’s The Sun and Her Flowers, before bed can work wonders.
EAT OFTEN //
What you eat throughout the day is extremely important when you’re busy. You need lots of fuel to keep you going. Make sure you’re eating whenever you get the chance. Try to go for something that will give you lots of energy, rather than the convenient, less-nutritious choice.
WORK OUTSIDE //
If your job permits, work outside. The sunshine and fresh air will instantly calm you down and rejuvenate you.
