FOX FINDS // The Best Events in Los Angeles This April

Posted by Molly Sanders on

Warmer weather, longer days, and almost nothing left to watch on tv (go Gonzaga?). We are looking for things to do over here at BOXFOX HQ and April is the month that all of our favorite things are starting-up again. Hello outdoor movies, music festivals, and blooming flowers! (We know...florals...for Spring...groundbreaking.)

What to do this April in Los Angeles

A P R I L  1  Marysia Swim Sample Sale // Venice

Shop the Marysia 2016 Resort and Summer line for 50-75% off! We have never been so excited to be SO last season. Get there early to beat the crowds- we feel like this is going to be a good one.

A P R I L  1  Roga // Santa Monica

ROGA! Meet up at the Santa Monica Pier at 8am for a 5 mile run (don’t worry- there is a 2 mile option too), followed by 9am yoga at the end of the pier. We are so down to Roga. It is free and happening every Saturday until April 22nd.

A P R I L  2  Art Garfunkel // Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza

Hang out with Art Garfunkel, of Simon and Garfunkel, and rock out to your favorite classics. Here’s to you Mrs. Robinson.

A P R I L  4  Food Truck Bazaar // The California Heritage Museum

We will be in Santa Monica every Tuesday night this April to grab a bite from one of the many food trucks that will be featured each week (hello Sushirritos!). Bring a blanket for a picnic or head over to the Victorian Patio to enjoy good food and good company.

A P R I L  6 - 29 Rooftop Cinema Club // Top Floor of the Montalban

We have been dreaming of outdoor movie nights and they are finally here. The Rooftop Cinema Club is back at it with rooftop movies that you do not want to miss! Donnie Darko will be screening on the 6th but check the schedule for more amazing films like Dirty Dancing, Selena, Memento, and Moana.

A P R I L  8  Broke LA // East Los Angeles

BROKE LA, aka Brokechella. Not feeling like spending a fortune for a weekend sweating in an uncomfortable outfit in the desert? Check out Broke LA and get your fill of music, art, and culture without the Coachella price tag.

A P R I L  8  LA Beer Fest // La Center Studios

Get your drink on at the 9th annual LA Beer Festival. General admission is $45 for unlimited beer (over 200 different kinds), live music, and fun.

A P R I L 9  Melrose Trading Post // West Hollywood

Find anything from handcrafted goods, to unique and beautiful furniture, to that oversized denim jacket you’ve been searching for. The Melrose Trading post offers up an incredible selection of flea market goods sure to satisfy the vintage-seeker, trendsetter, and bargain shopper in all of us.

A P R I L  11  The Edge of Seventeen // Montalban Theater

Reminisce your teenage days with this coming-of-age comedy as Nadine, played by Hailee Steinfeld, navigates through her dramatic and traumatizing years in high school.

A P R I L  12  Cage the Elephant // Northridge

Cage the Elephant will be playing at the Valley Performing Arts Center in Northridge. Check out this small alternative band while you can still get tickets- they are definitely on the up & up!

A P R I L  14-23 Coachella Music Festival // Indio

Coachella. Weekend 1 and 2. Need we say more? See ya soon Lady Gaga.

A P R I L  15 The Great Los Angeles River CleanUp // Various Locations

A P R I L   1 7 Jason Rhoades: Installations, 1994 - 2006 // Hauser Wirth & Schimmel

Through May 21st, come enjoy the outside-the-box “maximalist” installments of the late LA artist, Jason Rhoades. The six installation on display here bring often taboo topics to the center of the conversation and are sure to get you thinking.

A P R I L   1 8  The Art of Motion Picture Costume Design // FIDM

This exhibit features the exquisite costumes from some of your favorite movies of 2016 (ehem – La La Land). Be sure to check it out before it’s gone, the exhibit is only up through April 22!

A P R I L  20 Snoop Dogg // The Greek

Drop it like it's hot with Snoop doggy dog on April 20th… he would.

A P R I L  21 John Mayer Concert // The Forum

Fan girl over John Mayer at the Forum this April- we are pretty sure that seeing him live will have us falling in love all over again.

A P R I L  22 Earth Day // Planet Earth

Celebrate beautiful Planet Earth by going for a hike, walk, run, picnic, or swim- whatever you do make sure you are outside enjoying our amazing earth and soaking in the sun.

A P R I L  22-23 Free Entrance Days // the National Parks

Take advantage of these Free Entrance Days and explore your local National Parks or hit the road for a little day trip *hint* National Parks are the perfect place to celebrate Earth Day!

A P R I L  2 5  Unexpected Light: Works By Young Il Ahn // LACMA

This art installation will be on display through October, but why wait to check out the beautiful pieces created by Young Il Ahn, the first Korean-American artist ever to be featured in a museum in LACMA.

A P R I L  2 6  The 1975 // Greek Theatre

Their Thursday show is already sold out, so make sure to get your Wednesday tickets ASAP to see this stellar band in concert! Tickets are still available and start as low as $30.
